Action: EUROCHIP sponsors educational activity

One junior researcher from the Cancer Registry of each one of the Eastern European Candidate&Member Countries is being offered participation to the Course: "Cancer survival: principles, methods and applications", at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine on 3rd -7th April 2006.

This initiative brings statistical and epidemiological education in Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia, Slovenia, Slovakia, Bulgaria, Romania, Hungary, Poland and Czech Republic, thus contributing to the improvement of cancer control and the study of differences in care across Europe .

Thanks to EUROCHIP strong determination to save money on travelling in the past by encouraging the use of Low Cost Airlines when organising EUROCHIP Meetings, a sum of 15.000 EUROS turned available for this important ACTION and the allocation was authorised by the European Commission.

EUROCHIP covered the Subscription fees, plus travelling costs for 10 researchers.

For a number of researchers who requested extra sponsoring, costs of accomodation and meals will be covered by a number of Foundations and Charities from all over Europe.

We thank deeply everyone who has helped us organizing this, everyone who has accepted to travel low cost in the past, the EC for supporting the principle of fraternity behind this effort and all sponsors who made possible that all Eastern European Countries could be involved.

Our very Special Thanks go to:

- Professor Francesco De Lorenzo, AIMAC, Cancer Patients Italian Association and F.A.V.O., Italian Federation of Oncology Associations

- Professor Alberto Anglesio, ANGLESIO MORONI FUND for Education, Turin, Italy

- Professor Timo Hakulinen, FINNISH CANCER REGISTRY, Institute for Statistical and Epidemiological Cancer Research, Helsinki
